From listener to leader: a pastor's journey

Words of Hope Nepal · July 22, 2026

Ramesh was a small farmer in the Terai when he first heard our daily audio devotional. It was a two-minute program, played on a borrowed phone, and it changed the course of his life.

A seed planted

“I was not looking for religion,” Ramesh recalls. “I was looking for peace. Every day the program spoke about a God who knows my name and my language. I could not stop listening.”

For three years, Ramesh listened every day. He saved for a Bible, learned to read more carefully, and began gathering his family each evening to share what he had heard.

A church is born

When a visiting pastor learned of the group meeting in Ramesh’s home, he offered training through our leadership program. Ramesh accepted, and the group grew.

Today Ramesh leads a house church of more than forty believers in his village — and he trains other new leaders from the surrounding districts.

Listening is only the beginning

Stories like Ramesh’s remind us that audio devotionals are not an end in themselves. They are a door. When a listener responds, local leaders step in to disciple, teach, and build the church in their own community.

Pray with us

Pray for house churches across the Terai, and for the new leaders Ramesh is training — that they would be faithful, wise, and courageous in sharing the gospel.

Pray with us

Partnership in prayer is the foundation of this ministry. Let us know how we can pray for you, and join us in praying for the work across Nepal.
