Radio
A radio program that reaches the mountains of Karnali
Words of Hope Nepal · August 10, 2026
Every morning, before the sun clears the peaks, farmers in the Karnali region gather around a single radio. It is not the newest model — the paint is worn, and the antenna is held on with tape — but it carries a voice they trust.
That voice is our daily gospel broadcast, produced in Kathmandu and transmitted in Nepali and the regional heart languages of the far west.
A region of contrasts
Karnali is Nepal’s largest and least developed province. Many villages lie days from the nearest road. There are no bookstores, no internet cafés, and few churches. For most people here, the radio is the only window to the wider world — and the only way they will ever hear the gospel in the language their heart understands.
A listener’s testimony
“Before, I had heard the name of Jesus,” says Bimala, a mother of four who listens every morning. “But it was a story from another country. Now I hear it in my own language, and it is a message for me. I have started praying, and my neighbors have started asking what I listen to.”
What the broadcast means
Each program is short — fifteen minutes — because time on the airwaves is precious. It includes Scripture, prayer, and a simple message prepared by Nepali believers who know the culture and the questions of their people.
The response has been remarkable. Letters and phone calls arrive from villages whose names do not appear on most maps. People write to ask for prayer, for Bibles, and for more teaching.
Pray with us
Pray for the producers, translators, and broadcasters who prepare these programs each week. Pray for listeners in Karnali and across Nepal, that the Good News they hear in the language of their heart would bear fruit that lasts.
Pray with us
Partnership in prayer is the foundation of this ministry. Let us know how we can pray for you, and join us in praying for the work across Nepal.
